Find the date that actually matters

The charge date and the last date to cancel may be different. Open the provider’s account page and check its current terms. Work backward from the cancellation deadline when choosing your reminder, leaving yourself a comfortable buffer.

Keep a short record

The subscription name, expected renewal price, and account-management link are often enough. Add a note about why you signed up or what you use it for. Avoid putting payment credentials or passwords in reminder notes.

Ask one useful question

When the reminder comes around, ask whether you would choose this subscription again today. If you need it, check the plan and price. If you do not, use the provider’s own cancellation process and keep its confirmation. Acknowledging a reminder cannot cancel a subscription.

Set the next review consciously

An annual repeat is convenient when the provider’s date stays the same. Check it again when changing plans or pausing a subscription. A reminder that quietly drifts away from the actual renewal date will not give you the lead time you intended.
